About me
Anya Bobrinskaya, is an ESL Teacher with over two decades of dedicated service in fostering language acquisition, inclusivity, and global awareness. Holding a Master’s degree in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and Geography from Moscow State Pedagogical University, she has been shaping young minds and supporting fellow educators since 1995.Mrs. Bobrinskaya’s teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in personal experience. Having learned English as a non-native language herself, she attributes much of her success in the United States to the unwavering belief and support of her teachers in Russia. Today, Mrs. Bobrinskaya pays that gift forward, and has served students across three premier Virginia school divisions: Poquoson City Public Schools, Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools, and Newport News Public Schools. As a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT)—the gold standard in profession-wide excellence—Mrs. Bobrinskaya is also a passionate leader in teacher mentorship. She serves as a Clinical Faculty member with William & Mary, mentoring pre-service teachers and shaping the future of the profession. Additionally, she has designed and facilitated impactful professional development sessions on specialized topics, including Simple Scaffolds, Big Gains for ELLs in the Classroom, Engaging Vocabulary for Every Student (focusing on interactive vocabulary strategies), 3-D Foldables for tactile learning, and building innovative Routes to Foster Stronger Connections Between School and Home. An advocate for classroom innovation, Mrs. Bobrinskaya is the recipient of two competitive instructional grants. Most recently, she secured a $400 grant to pursue Spanish language studies to better communicate with multilingual families, and a $2,500 grant utilized to create Language Discovery Boxes designed to seamlessly integrate newcomers into the general education setting.Away from work, Mrs. Bobrinskaya models the lifelong learning she champions in the classroom by continuing to study Spanish. She also enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and expressing creativity through hands-on crafts like knitting, beading, and crocheting
