Turning Pages into Power: Building Student Voice Through Reader's Response

This professional development session will equip teachers with tools to increase student engagement during independent work time in reading. Teachers will learn how reader's response can meet the needs of diverse learners, increase engagement, and honor the thoughts and perspectives of our students. The session will model how to create different reader's response prompts using different modalities such as technological, auditory, and written. Teachers will leave with sample prompts and planning tools to help them develop authentic reader's response tasks for their students.

This session would benefit teachers who teach reading in grades 3-5.
